Featured Service of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System

The development of positioning and navigation technology has a long history, from visual navigation and astronomical navigation in ancient times, to instrument navigation in the maritime navigation era, and then to modern radio navigation, as well as satellite navigation, which is widely used now. The development process of positioning and navigation technology is also a continuous process of human exploration and discovery of the unknown world. Satellite navigation system has become a major spatiotemporal information infrastructure for global sharing because of its characteristics of all-day, all-weather, high precision and global coverage. BeiDou Satellite Navigation System (BDS) is a global system independently built and operated by China, and It has been fully completed and put into service for all the world since July 31, 2020. BDS is unique in constellation design, operation management and service functions. In particular, it can provide users with diversified featured services, including satellite based augmentation services, short message communication services, precision point positioning services, search and rescue services, etc. The services can provide users all over the world with more choices and better application experience.
