Soapbox Science Lisboa

Soapbox science will create an interactive space between the general public ( kids, families, students and elderlies) and 12 female scientists working on a broad range of topics. Each speaker will chat with the public for one hour while standing on a soapbox. Historically soapboxes were used to stand on and promote civil rights, in soapbox science we take its historical symbolism to give a stage to our female speakers. Aided with props, the scientists will bring their everyday research closer to the people, creating a dialogue catered to the curiosity of the audience. The goal of this event is to break free of the comonly-held stereotypes about scientists, to highlight female scientists, and to share the science that is currently being done in the Lisbon area.
